Fragmented Journeys Collective

A collective of female and non-binary aerial artists.

Who We Are

The Fragmented Journeys Collective is an aerial collective passionate about contemporary innovation, creating long-form acts that express the human experience in a unique and engaging way. We created a triple-rope apparatus where nine aerial artists manipulate the ropes to open a myriad of possibilities of knots, tension, and human anchors to create new aerial landscapes.

Corde lisse (aerial rope) is a discipline usually performed solo, and traditionally practiced largely by men due to its physical strength requirements. Performing as a group of women and nonbinary artists is an act of defiance towards the idea that femininity and strength are separate.

Producing acts that highlight collaboration, while combining the physicality of circus arts with the depth and emotional range of contemporary dance and theatre, we hope to create an entirely new art form that pushes boundaries and captivates audiences in Edmonton and beyond.
